Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is home to a multidisciplinary team of world-class scientists who use innovative approaches to tackle some of the most difficult problems in science and medicine. We believe that scientific breakthroughs are found in unexpected places—often at the intersection of multiple scientific disciplines. Our team collaborates across labs and disciplines, exploring problems from different angles. Together, we are working toward a shared goal of improving human health for generations to come.

Founded in 1956, PNRI is a nonprofit biomedical research institute deeply rooted in the Seattle community. In addition to conducting ground-breaking biomedical research at its facility in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood, PNRI also expresses its commitment to delivering community impact through a variety of actions, including making conscious decisions about pursuing research projects designed to deliver significant societal impact; hosting a publicly accessible seminar series, Science Matters, where some of the world’s top scientists discuss their research programs in the context of societal relevance; and offering students from diverse and underrepresented populations the opportunity to learn firsthand about careers in science.
